Blue Point Brewing Toasted Lager Review

Advertisements

Blue Point Brewing Company’s signature beer is their Toasted Lager, an American Style Amber Lager. The Long Island brewery has won a few awards with this beer and one can see why after trying it.

The beer pours a nice dark amber color with a solid white head. The aroma showcases the malt and hops with notes of bread and biscuit. It stands out in the glass with its deep copper, amber color.

The first sip showcases the malt and bread flavors. It is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation and sits well in the mouth. You definitely notice the malt up front but it finishes with hops. The toasted malts are the real star, however. The up-front bitterness of the malts and the dry, hoppy finish leave you wanting another sip.

This is a nice beer with repeat drinkability. It would pair well with seafood, like an English brown ale with fish and chips. This is very similar in that regard but with a little extra layer of complexity that your typical brown ale doesn’t offer which allows this to go with lobster, crabs, or other fresh seafood. It can also go with a nice burger as well.

The glass laces fairly well and the beer holds up as you sip. It is just an even drink that almost every beer drinker can appreciate. It is well balanced and a very good choice for a summer beer. It does clock in at 5.5% ABV as well.

This is an overall good beer. It is still somewhat regional with it being found in 20 states and Washington, D.C. It is also available in select cities as well. They are a growing brewery that has found a niche and a fan base and should continue to grow.
